Recap your emotions and then Empathy. Seeing with the eyes of another. Feeling with the heart of another.
Introduce Stop. Breathe. Listen. Respond. (From Empathy toolkit in my docs). Helps with understanding others and when there is a conflict.
First, I pick a scenario and model for the class. Practice using empathy shoes scenarios. Then, if time permits, have students get in pairs and practice some more with real scenarios.

“I Messages”
I messages lesson. Recapped Kelso's choice and focused on "talking it out". Discussed the meaning of I-messages and owning feelings while not attacking the person you are having a conflict with. Talk it Out. When doing this, only one person should be talking at a time. It is important to listen to each other. Ask students to use “I” messages when explaining. Add that eye contact and using the person’s name adds positively to what you say.

By making this journey back and forth on a regular basis, you begin to reintegrate these qualities into your everyday life. You reestablish the silence that underlies all the noise and activity so that even in the midst of chaos and confusion, even in the midst of dynamic activity, you can still remain calm, you can still think clearly and creatively.
Have them draw their still, quiet place. When done, do the mindfulness exercise below (guide them around their still, quiet place) with this relaxing music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZYbU82GVz4
